Help - Salatti/Morini in Mantova and Reggio Emilia

Ciao a tutti,

I´m stuck finding my ancestors and I cant seem to go any further.

Paolo Salati (n.c. 1859/1850) and Luigia Morini ( n.c.1853).
had, in Italy:
1)Narcisa Salati, n.1876/1876, in the Reggio Emilia (Provincia), according to her merriage certificate. She married Vincenzo Baccaro from Roverbela, Mantova.

2)Alice Salati, n.1880/1881, in Mantova (Provincia).

3)Mentore, b.10.11.1883 in Boccadiganda, Mantova. I found the atto di nascita and this is the only document about this family that i found in Italy. I couldnt find any other children in Boccadiganda, or any other trace of this family in the area.

4) Adele, b.1885 in Mantova (Provincia).

Paolo Salati died in 1905 and on the death record it says that his parents are: GIOVANNI SALATI and GIULIA CAGNOLI

Luigia Morini died in 1941 and on the death recoord says that her parents are GIUSEPPE MORINI and MARIA. It also says shes from Mantova (Provincia).

Apart from the atto di nascita for Mentore (1883/Boccadiganda- Mantova) everything else is a mystery.

How can find the marriage record for Paolo and Luigia, and where the other children were born?

Thank you for the reply. True, the 1849/1850 estimation is from the information on the death record, but most likely he was born in 1847/1848.

However it seems they lived somewhere else (not in Borgoforte) before Mentore was born. Any idea how to continue?

I think you should start with the most accurate information you have: Mentore's birth certificate. Undoubtedly, in 1883, Paolo and Luisa were residents in the comune di Borgoforte di Mantova (which, since February 2014, disappeared as an autonomous comune and forms part of the Comune di Borgo Virgilio). If you request the Certificato Storico di Famiglia from Paolo and Luisa to the comune di Borgo Virgilio, sede comunale di Borgoforte, indicating that the year 1883 they resided in Borgoforte di Mantova, frazione di Boccadiganda, they will send you this document, in which appear the dates and places of birth of each one of the members of the family. In this way you will have other comuni where you can write and request the Copie Intefrali of the birth certificates of the children and, perhaps, of Paolo and Luisa

Can you read what it says for the occupation of Paolo Salati? Something like "donno di casa"?

Sì: "Donna di Casa". Secondo me è stata scritta per errore anche lì l'occupazione della moglie.

A quanto sopra e a questo atto sono stati presenti quali testimoni Marchini Luigi, di anni quaranta, Vice Segretario e Burani Giuseppe di anni quaranta Cursore entrambi residenti in questo Comune.

Yes, this is incredible: the profession of Paolo is "Donna di casa"!!! that means housewife... (the same as Luigi Morini, the wife and mother of Mentore...
Of course the Secretary made a mistake! I'm 100% sure that Mr. Paolo Salati was NOT an housewife! I suggest you to find other acts concerning him or his sons/daughters to find the right job.
