Assunto Mazzei - Stazzema
Inviato: lunedì 20 novembre 2017, 8:55
Hi
My ancestor Assunto Mazzei (actually born Luigi Assunto Mazzei but known as Assunto) was born in 'Alpe di Stazzema' in 1829.
He was the son of Pietro Gaetano Mazzei and Rosalba Bertellotti.
He married Palma Catelani in Stazzema in 1855.
Their 5 sons all emigrated to Argentina in the 1870's or 1880's.
Silvio Mazzei b.1857;
Adriano Mazzei b.1859;
Ancato Mazzei b.1865 but is called Santiago Mazzei in Argentina;
Celeste Mazzei b.1867;
Ermete Mazzei b.1869.
There are no death or burial records online for Argentina so I don't know when any of these died.
I can't find the death of Assunto Mazzei.
His youngest child who died young was born in Stazzema in 1873 so Assunto must have been alive in 1872.
On one of his sons marriage certificates in Argentina in 1880, Assunto is noted as deceased, so he must have died between 1872 and 1880.
His wife (Palma Catelani) died in Stazzema in 1906, which made me think Assunto and Palma didn't go to Argentina.
But as I can't find Assunto's death in Stazzema (I've also searched neighbouring towns and Lucca itself) - I wonder if he went to Argentina and died there, but his wife returned to Italy?
Can anybody find Assunto's death - or evidence that he went to Argentina?
Or any document listIng his sons emigration to Argentina?
Thanks
Darin (Newcastle upon Tyne, England).
