i would love any help i can get! my family has been searching for 35+ years for these records and we cant find them anywhere. i have checked naturalization records and i am in the process of rechecking them for a second time...i check updated on ancestry almost daily. biggest problem is everything my g-grandmother and her siblings signed they changed their place of birth. so i have checked every location listed on every census and ship record except one..i found my uncle's passage and for the first time he listed Italy as a place of birth. all other times they have listed Switzerland. from the stories my grandmother told they lived on the border and i have found the fathers side in the Ticino Switzerland area. My Uncle listed he was born in "Pino" Italy and his parents were still in Como. there is a Pino lago Maggiore in the area that i had been researching with a como very near so i am assuming this is the area... his name was Luigi Baroni parents Vincenzo and Aurelia Taddei Baroni he was born July 26 1888. His sisters....Nathalene Mary Baroni born March 9 1884 and Clelia Carolina Baroni born February 28 1889. Spellings may vary and possibly dates of birth on Luigi or Louis. Baroni may be spelled Barone.....And the only other info I have on their parents is that the father was a border guard. other than that i only have the names that my grandmother gave me. there was possibly another child named Giovanni that did not come to the US...they all immigrated in their late teenage years and married people from this area also. but they remain a mystery......i welcome any help because i dont know where to turn next. i have all US records on these three siblings but i need a birth to go back further in generations. Update......i just found another record for Luigi Baroni....He lists Tronzano Italy as his place of birth...and parents are in Pino Como...... Is Tronzano in this same area? it looks like it on the map i have of lago maggiore but i also see a couple more Tronzano....this is the 5 or 6 place he has listed as a birth would Tronzano and Pino records be in the same area?

you did alot of work! unfortunately i have most of that info.... we have searched extensively in Switzerland and there are no birth records for any of these three siblings. my problem is they often changed their place of birth on papers that they signed...census, marriage records etc. i have information as to after their immigration to US but i need their birth records to continue on. i finally found Luigi ship record in which he did state Tronzano! first time on anything he signed that he put Italy!! (which is where i suspect they are from) he also put on those records he was leaving Pino for US and his parents were still in Como. but these records are not on film or digital yet as far as im able to see. Also Clelia's ship record she put she was born in Northern Italy. after they came to US they changed spellings of names and all of them put Switzerland on everything. but the 2 sisters husbands were from Piazoggna area so maybe that why ? never the less im so hoping that the records are in the Pino-Tronzano area of Lago Maggiore. i have searched the Ticino area of Switzerland till there is no where left to search........

What kind of search? Do you have already written to the Locarno office?

Do you think they all stated the false?

Tronzano could be his last residence only, even if it's written also in the column “Place of birth” (personal experience), however to erase any doubts you have to do the research also in Italy.

yes i do believe some of the things they stated are false because they stated differently on other documents....there were some extenuating circumstances...but i have not checked the tronzano area so i am hoping that this document might bring me some luck!!! i have written to municipalities and have had no luck in response. i have emailed parrishes with the same outcome..... im kinda at my wits end!! but thanks so much for your interest and help.....if you have any other ideas im open to them...i guess i need to find someone that can do a search over there or wait for records to be digitized.....but i am hopeful that the Pino, Tronzano area of lago maggiore is where i will find them.
