There is google maps' street view... I definitely remember seeing the google-map-man with his weird backpack and sort of antenna going about venice on foot when I lived there.
sorry about that long link, if a mod can modify my message and remove it, I notice now it's too long and makes the page wonky, and doesn't work, apparently.
But basically, go to google MAPS and type in venice and then go to street view!
Scusate per il link, pare non funzionare e non mi ero resa conto avrebbe sformato la pagina, se un mod potesse modificare il mio messaggio togliendolo sarei grata, in questa sezione non vedo il tasto modifica.

Erica, I have spent many hours in the Ghetto in Venice. I even got to go to Sabbath services there...an amazing experience!! It's interesting to see this connection to Judaism. My mom always told me that it was believed a branch of the family was originally Jewish and forced to convert. There is a belief that if that happens, somewhere down the line it will be brought back to Judaism. My mother converted to Judaism before i was born in Israel. So far, I don't know if this particular Romanin is connected...but it will be interesting to find out.
Well, I am looking at all the Romanins and tracking what I find because my great-grandmother was Bice Romanin, daughter of Marino Romanin and Amelia Formento. I have found a couple of siblings, but still no connection to any of the others.
Searching the records is very slow going. I think when I can finally get to the marriage records, that should start to help piece the puzzle together.... I hope!
